أدَّت الدراسات التاريخيَّة التي تحظى بدراسة الشخصيَّات الدينيَّة والمجتمعيَّة المؤثِّرة في المجتمع عبر تعاقب الأجيال أثرًا بارزًا للكشف عن ملامح الحوزات العلميَّة والمدارس الفكريَّة التي رسمت معالم الفقه والأصول والمنطق، وسعت إلى استقراء وتأسيس لفهم متجدِّد للمناهج الحوزيَّة والكتب الفقهيَّة، وكان من بين أولئك الأعلام الذين سعوا الى ذلك المجدِّد الشيخ محمَّد بن إدريس الحِلِّيّ.
تلكم الشخصيَّة الحوزيَّة الفذَّة والقامة العلميَّة تناولها أحد الباحثين وهو (عليّ همَّت بناري)؛ ليضع بين أيدي القرَّاء الكرام كتابًا يبحث عن النقد الفقهيّ وملامحه، وقد وضع فيه بعضًا من القضايا التاريخيَّة تتبَّعناها بقراءة تاريخيَّة؛ لنوضِّح المنهج التاريخيّ الذي اتَّبعه ذلك المؤلِّف في ثنايا مؤلَّفه.
